In 2013 I was invited by Food for the Hungry to visit Dhaka, Bangladesh and visit with men, women, and children living in slums where the population struggles with gaining access to clean water and food. They have limited knowledge of personal hygiene, nutrition, saving, and education. Young women are married off by the age of sixteen to men twice their age, and young boys are put to work to help provide for their family rather than sent to school. FH intends to find solutions to eliminate child labor and marriage, and increase survival and education by creating self-sustaining communities through child sponsorship. This is a glimpse into their lives..
